in New Mexico

It isn’t New Mexico if you don’t have tires on the roof. No, I don’t know what the point is. Hold the roof down?

you should ask someone! maybe to keep the noise down when the wind blows?

Holding the roof on seems to be why. I’ve certainly seen trailers where that obviously was the case, anyway. But maybe it’s to keep people from stealing them. 🙂

David, you’re on the money. A commenter on Facebook said, “People use tires on rooftops as a solution to excess wind noise from metal mobile home roofs.”

This tells the world I have never lived in a trailer. It tells me that this must not be limited to New Mexico, although that’s my rough impression. Probably the truth is that there are LOTS of trailers in New Mexico, so I see a lot of tires.
