It’s a big one, not sure which kind. Underside of the wings is white.

Was super excited to see your picture this morning! LOVE it! Anyway. My first thought was an eagle. I tried to zoom in on the photo but it became very pixilaed. You said the underside of the winds were white. Thus is the situation for both Bald and Golden eagles when they are juvies. Very easily confused. Did you see him in flight? If you look in a bird book at them in flight you can see how their “white windows” appear in slightly different areas. The banding on the tail makes sense as well. And the golden coloration of head (rather than brown/grey) makes me think Golden. Check it out..maybe it is an eagle? Maybe not. Great photo either way! 🙂 Thats for sharing!

Not NEARLY as knowledgeable as Alissa above, but my first thought as well was it is an Eagle….Head and Beak are much bigger than the average hawk, but the tail feathers look a bit like a hawk…yet the under-wing colorations you described made me again think Eagle!?!…..but I have been wrong 3 or 4 times today already…..regardless….You were certainly Blessed either way….Great Shot, and again we are thankful for your “View” on things….Lucky guy…..!!!
